Collector terms
The agreement between you and Dumply when you use the platform to find and carry out collection work.
Version 1.0 Last updated 18 September 2026
1. Your status
You are an independent contractor running your own business. You are not a Dumply employee, worker or agent. You decide which jobs to quote for, what to charge and when to work.
You are responsible for your own tax and National Insurance, and for registering with HMRC as appropriate. Dumply does not deduct tax from your earnings.
2. Verification
You cannot see jobs or submit quotes until we have approved your documents. We require:
- Photo ID — A valid passport or UK driving licence. Make sure the whole document is visible.
- Proof of address — A utility bill, bank statement or council tax letter from the last three months.
- Waste carrier licence — Your registration with the Environment Agency, SEPA, NRW or NIEA. Required to carry waste for others.
- Public liability insurance — Your certificate of insurance showing cover level and expiry date.
- Motor insurance — Insurance for the vehicle you will collect with, including business or hire-and-reward use.
- Vehicle registration (V5C) — The V5C logbook for the vehicle you will be using.
- Business registration — Companies House certificate or proof of sole-trader registration.
You must keep these current. If a licence or insurance policy lapses we will suspend your ability to take new work until it is renewed.
3. Waste carrier registration
It is a legal requirement in the UK to be registered to carry waste that belongs to someone else. You must hold a valid registration with the Environment Agency, SEPA, Natural Resources Wales or the NIEA as appropriate to where you operate.
You must dispose of every load lawfully, at a licensed facility, and keep your waste transfer records. Fly-tipping will result in immediate and permanent removal from the platform and we will report it to the relevant authority.
4. Quoting
- You set your own price. Dumply does not set or cap your rates.
- Your quote must be inclusive of labour and disposal fees unless you clearly say otherwise.
- You may only quote for work you are licensed, insured and equipped to do.
- Quotes are binding if accepted. Do not quote for a job you cannot commit to.
- You may withdraw a quote before it is accepted.
5. Carrying out the job
Once your quote is accepted you must:
- Keep your stage updates current, so the customer knows where you are.
- Arrive within the window you quoted, or message the customer if you are delayed.
- Take reasonable care of the customer's property.
- Upload before and after photographs. A job cannot be completed without after photos.
- Leave the area clear and tidy.
If the job is materially different from its description you may decline it on arrival. Report this through the app rather than simply leaving, so we have a record and can handle the payment fairly.
6. Refusing a load
You must refuse anything on the prohibited items list, and anything you are not licensed to carry. Refusing on these grounds will never count against your rating or standing.
7. Payment and commission
Dumply is free to use and takes no commission. The customer pays you directly for the work, in cash or by bank transfer. No money passes through Dumply, and we do not invoice you.
That also means the job is not funded before you set off. Agree the amount and the payment method with the customer through Dumply's messaging before you travel, and treat the accepted quote as the agreed price.
Collecting the payment, giving a receipt, and accounting for the income are yours to handle, as they would be for any customer you found yourself. You are responsible for your own tax and record keeping.
We may introduce a commission in future. If we do, you will be told before it applies to you, and the arrangement recorded on each booking is the one that governs it. Work you have already been booked for is never changed retroactively.
Jobs confirm automatically after 48 hours if the customer does not respond and no dispute is raised, so you are not left waiting indefinitely.
8. Withdrawals
There is nothing to withdraw. Dumply holds no balance for you because the customer pays you directly. Your earnings screen is a record of the work you have completed and what you agreed to be paid for it, not an account you can draw from.
9. Disputes and chargebacks
If a customer raises a dispute, the payment for that job stays on hold while an administrator reviews it. You will be asked for your side and any evidence. Your before and after photographs are usually the most important evidence, which is why they are required.
An administrator may release the payment to you in full, refund the customer in full, or split it. Where a payment has already been released and is later reversed, the amount may be debited from your balance.
10. Location sharing
While you are travelling to and carrying out a booked job, your location is shared with that customer so they know when to expect you. Sharing starts when you mark yourself on the way and stops automatically when the job is complete. It is not shared at any other time, and it is never shared with other collectors.
11. Conduct and standing
Be professional and courteous. Do not ask customers to pay you outside the platform: it removes their protection and yours, and is grounds for removal.
We may suspend or remove you for fly-tipping, repeated no-shows, lapsed licences or insurance, abusive behaviour, taking payment off-platform, or consistently poor ratings.
12. Ending the arrangement
You can stop using Dumply whenever you like, and close your account from your settings. You must complete any jobs you have already accepted, or tell us so we can arrange a refund for the customer.
